Telling a complex story - player agency, structure & technique

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

In this workshop we'll go through how you can structure and develop a long and complex interactive story, while still keeping it coherent for the player. We'll look at narrative structures that are commonly used, and suitable for choice-based games with branching narratives. We'll also talk about choice design and player agency. Using Inkle Studio's narrative engine Ink, we'll do some hands-on storytelling experiments. Bring all your curiosity and questions about storytelling in games!

Recommended for everyone interested in telling complex stories through games. No previous experience required.

A computer and the possibility to download Inkle Studio's story editor Inky: https://www.inklestudios.com/ink/

This workshop will be given via Zoom.
